The Everly Health Story

Why does healthcare have to be complicated and confusing?

Julia Cheek dared to ask that question back in the mid-2010s. And it led her to found Everlywell, a testing and wellness company that is now changing the landscape of at-home healthcare.

When Harvard-grad Julia Cheek founded Everlywell, her initial goal was to make medical diagnostic tests more affordable, accessible, and understandable. She’d been through the complexities of traditional medical testing herself, and wanted to help others have a better experience.

It began with offering affordable, easy-to-understand, at-home testing options—and since then, her story is one of expanding offerings, unexpected partnerships, and explosive growth.

In 2017, Cheek appeared on Shark Tank, and her compelling presentation earned an investment that helped power explosive growth. Now, in addition to delivering tests directly to people’s homes, they can also be purchased from major retailers like Target and CVS.

Then came 2020, and the world suddenly needed a new kind of test—and they needed it in massive numbers and at an unprecedented speed—tests for COVID-19. Cheek knew her company was uniquely positioned to help. They already had the infrastructure built to deliver at-home tests, but their company was still small enough, and nimble enough, to adapt quickly to meet the new need. Today, Everlywell’s COVID-19 Test Home Collection Kit DTC is available for people in all 50 U.S. states.

Julia saw testing as an opportunity to help healthcare work better for people—especially women.

Now, testing is just a piece of Everly Health’s healthcare offerings.

For Everlywell, 2020 was unprecedented, but it was the following year that truly changed their business model. After less than a decade in business, in 2021, the company expanded to become Everly Health—a parent company that now includes three multiple rapidly-growing healthcare brands and serves people in all 50 U.S. States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Everly Health acquired PWNHealth and Home Access Health Corporation, and formed a new parent company Everly Health Solutions. The innovative business model now includes a network of 60+ labs, support for more than 3,000 types of tests and diagnostic devices, and provides healthcare support for over 20 million people. That same year, they also acquired Natalist, a modern women’s health brand that offers an expanding set of fertility and pregnancy essentials.

And meanwhile, Everlywell is still growing as a successful consumer-facing testing business under the Everly Health umbrella. They now offer over 35 different at-home tests—for everything from fertility, to allergies, to STDs, to COVID-19—as well as nutritional supplements.

All together, Everly Health now serves tens of millions of people across the U.S. and Canada, with a broad range of modern, at-home healthcare support.

And it’s easy to see a trajectory for growth. At the beginning of 2022, Everly Health Solutions announced a new consumer-friendly approach to preventative colorectal cancer screening. That’s in addition to their screening tests for some of the nation’s other most dangerous conditions: heart health and diabetes. In short, the company is growing into a dynamic, multifaceted company that offers a full suite of modern, accessible tools to give people more power to take control of their health.
